Testimonials from Recent Vertrue Interns
Internships are immensely helpful in many different ways. From my own experience, my internship opened the door for a full-time position here at Vertrue. The internship was 5 weeks long, and it took place after I completed my junior year of college.
The knowledge and experience that I gained from my internship gave me the ability to narrow down exactly what type of job I was going to search for upon graduation. Fortunately, that was the easy part. During my internship, I found my niche, and it was here at Vertrue, as a member of the Client Services team.
Interning allowed me to better understand how my skills might apply to a working environment. Vertrue enabled me to make critical professional contacts as well as make friends with the other interns in the various departments. The internship program is very unique in the sense that you are constantly learning; one of the ways this is achieved is through Lunch and Learns (scheduled for all interns). There are approximately five of these sessions, and they are set up across all departments. During the Lunch and Learns, employees from the different departments come in and explain life within each department.
In my role as a Client Services intern, I was assigned several projects; the tasks associated with the projects were — at times — challenging. However, they were also rewarding. In fact, one of the most gainful parts of the internships was the opportunity to meet with various departments, which ultimately allowed me to make sense of each department's function and what that means to the company as a whole.
Everyone in the Client Services department welcomed me immediately as a part of their team. And this accommodation gave me the ability to learn at a high level, let me see what the "real world" is really like and most importantly, made me comfortable when asking questions.
Receiving the opportunity to intern and become a full-time employee at Vertrue has been both gratifying and enjoyable!

I applied for my internship at Vertrue based on a friend’s recommendation. Now that my internship is coming to an end, I can say that it has exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely suggest Vertrue’s intern program to others.
The first thing I noticed while at Vertrue was that everyone is extremely friendly. Even though I was just "the intern," I felt welcomed and accepted immediately. The environment is very open, which allows for great teamwork, not only within a particular group but also across different departments.
During my time at Vertrue, I was apart of a great online marketing team, conducting market research. I collected and analyzed a vast amount of data for competitive reviews and consumer surveys. I also researched two popular online trends, applied them to the business and presented my findings to a team.
Vertrue has definitely prepared me for life after college. The knowledge and skills I have gained are priceless. Interns at Vertrue do "real work" that applies directly to business. All of the work I did was useful to others and the company, and that made me feel extremely valuable.
I walked away from my internship with more confidence in my overall abilities, and my time at Vertrue will, without a doubt, help me in the future.
In general terms, internships are important because they help you decide if you truly are interested in a particular field or industry. Everything you learn in college can definitely be applied to business, but once you get into the real world, it's much different from being in a classroom. Internships are also a great way to network and build relationships with others in the business world.
I learned a lot while at Vertrue, and not just about business and marketing; I also learned about myself. If you have the opportunity to be a part of Vertrue’s intern program, I would strongly recommend it.

Interning is a valuable work experience that can introduce you to a particular job atmosphere, teach you the skills of a particular trade and get your foot into the door of the corporate world. Though there are internships available in practically every professional industry, what people often don't take into account when selecting internships to apply for is the quality of the internship program. Even if you wind up working for a well-respected company, spending your summer filing or doing "busy work" isn't a productive use of your time. That said, Vertrue has a great intern program. They put a lot of effort into making sure that an internship with them is a real learning experience where you are an involved member of the company workforce.
This summer, I worked as a copywriter intern in the Adaptive Marketing Creative Services Department. My day-to-day work consisted mostly of helping co-workers with the extra work that accumulated when a full-time copywriter left the company. This involved a combination of editing copy for different versions of web pages, writing how-to guides for the company’s search protocol and creating blurbs for CreditFYI.com, a credit and ID theft-oriented website.
Additionally, I worked on the development of VertrueArt, a program that showcases the work of local artists in the Vertrue workplace. For this, I conducted video interviews with the artists and wrote artist bios, both of which were for the VertrueArt website. Over the course of the summer, I also created a PowerPoint presentation that was presented to the entire Creative department at summer's end.
Everyone in the Creative Department was great. They welcomed me immediately as a coworker — not just some short-term employee. My supervisor and the other writers were very approachable and were ready to assist me whenever I was learning something new. Their help allowed me to learn quickly and become an effective member of the Creative team. Because they treated me as if I were a peer, I got to see corporate life first-hand.
This summer has not only taught me a lot about being a marketing writer, but it also has given me an understanding of what it means to work on a team that helps run a business.

The experience that I received here at Vertrue has far exceeded my expectations of the company. I entered as an intern the summer before my senior year of college, and I was not really prepared for what the "real world" might offer. All that I had prior to my time at Vertrue was what I learned throughout my college career. However, after being at Vertrue and obtaining the necessary experience needed, I learned how to complete a number of tasks with precision and success.
One example might be that I was taught to create daily campaigns and gather sales information for the sales reports. I began assisting the online marketing team with all the daily aspects of marketing duties. I assisted the team with coordinating creative job requests as well as reviewing and ensuring that all online marketing materials were reviewed and approved.
Although this may sound like an overwhelming amount of work, my fellow employees here at Vertrue were extremely helpful in assisting me with the understanding and completion of these tasks. If I was ever in need of assistance, there was always a staff member available to assist me with whatever problem I encountered. In their eyes, my problems were seen as a learning experience, and their assistance was given without hesitation.
The workplace here at Vertrue is an open environment, one that provides a different approach for the communication between you and your co-workers. The setup of this environment is one without closed offices. This leads to a more friendly interaction between each and every employee. There are instances when the jobs that are assigned bring difficulty; however, this has been an enjoyable and life-changing experience, one that has been well worth the hard work.
This experience has prepared me well for the struggles of the real world. What I've encountered has expanded my range of knowledge within the area of marketing, while I've also further evolved as an individual.
Due to my experiences within this company, I am assured that wherever I end up in the future, I will be prepared to face challenges of all sorts. The importance of the completion of an internship can't be stressed enough. It is there where you can decide whether or not a certain career path is right for you. Also, besides providing a steppingstone to a better future, internships give you a sense of what you can expect within a certain job setting by letting you explore and learn more about yourself.
This preparation is a key to success if you want to pursue a certain career. Acquiring professional work experience prior to graduation is important in order to guarantee a bright future. On a personal note, my internship participation with Vertrue has provided me with the necessary tools that will lead to a successful career within marketing.

Prior to my Human Resources internship at Vertrue, I had very little corporate experience. So I was excited about the opportunity. From my first encounter with the company, throughout the Internship Program, it's clear that the main goal is to provide each intern with a strong knowledge base that can be used in any career path they choose. Not only does Vertrue want you to gain experience in your field of choice, but also about the company as a whole and proper ways to act in a corporate environment. "The Lunch and Learn Program," for example, provides you with the opportunity to hear from department leaders, and interactive training workshops bring the whole experience together.
During my internship, I learned that the Human Resources department is responsible for many different functions in the organization. I was given the opportunity to learn about recruiting, new hire orientation, compensation, benefits, and training and development. All of these functions helped me to understand how a corporate organization works. Regardless of whether I decided to continue in Human Resources, I knew that I would be able to use this knowledge in any career that I might have in the future.
The HR team took every opportunity to involve me in new projects and encouraged me to share my opinions and ask questions. They taught me how important even the smallest tasks are and how they contribute to the success of the company, which is something that I will remember throughout my career.
Internships are incredibly important building blocks for your career. An internship is a chance for you to apply your knowledge while continuing to learn outside of the classroom. It is never too early to start networking, and you can begin to make connections with all of the people around you. By taking advantage of different internship opportunities, you will be able to identify the fields you enjoy and can continue in the direction that best suits you.
It is no secret that the transition from college to the corporate world can be very difficult, but Vertrue succeeds at making this transition as smooth as possible. From the vibrant furniture to the open environment, Vertrue encourages creativity and teamwork. My experience was extremely rewarding, and I highly recommend pursuing an internship at Vertrue.
